Toughened laminated glass is similar to annealed laminated glass but the sheets of glass that are laminated together have been toughened and heat soak tested.
Generally two sheets of toughened glass provide the most economical solution for domestic projects where the rooflight is no more than 5m above floor level.

Laminated safety glass is often recommended for roof glazing although toughened glass is sufficient for some overhead glazing applications.
The regulations allow the use of toughened glass overhead however if toughened glass is used as the lower pane then a safety glass must be used in the upper pane.
